You need to upload your site to a reliable web server “host”, so that your site is available for people to access. There are a number of Hosting companies out there offering different levels of service, but we have made our inclusive hosting package as simple and transparent as possible.

Hosting is the storage of your website on a server, that sends it out when requested, to your visitors’ web browser. Jargon: What is POP email?
POP is a ‘protocol’ (a service) that connects to your email server at your hosting company.
Our hosting service includes POP boxes (similar to an electronic ‘in tray’ for emails) and emails sent to you are received and stored by the server until you download them into your email program. This means that you can create and use different email addresses that are customised to your domain name – especially useful for businesses.
You can also forward email to another address, autorespond and much more.

There are times when you are not at your own computer, such as when you are travelling. Our Hosting includes a Webmail facility, where you can view, reply to, delete or do just about anything you would normally do with your emails – but online through a web browser – anywhere you happen to be.
Jargon: What are MySQL databases?
Databases allow you to store information efficiently and MySQL is the widely used database system for websites.
If you want to use a Content Management system (to easily manage the content of your website) such as WordPress, or run a blog, then you will use a database.

A domain name is the actual name (or address) of your website. Our hosting includes a free standard Domain name (subject to availability) for two years.
All email accounts supplied with our hosting include virus and spam filtering.
Viruses – emails are scanned for suspicious content and virus databases are updated every 2 hours to ensure up to date protection.
Spam – the majority of spam emails are filtered out and the sensitivity of the filter can be changed as/where necessary.
Please note: the email virus protection we supply is in addition to the protection you would normally use on your computer. It is not intended as a replacement for your own security software.

You will have plenty of storage space for your website and email accounts – all you need to do is give us an idea of how much you will need initially and if needed, the quota can be increased up to the maximum available.
